Fans of Little Saigon at 1015 N. Broadway know that Rose Santana is always there, greeting customers, running the register, waiting tables and managing the dining room.

And as much as she loves it, Santana said, she’s decided she doesn’t want to always be there.

So starting on Aug. 7, Santana – who runs the restaurant for her parents, Michael and Kim Santana – plans to start closing Little Saigon at 3 p.m. on Mondays. Her goal is to start closing all day on Mondays after the first of the year.

Santana, who is a mother, said she wants to spend more time at home with her family. She’s often at the restaurant 85 hours a week.

“People always say, ‘If you want to be off, just be off,’” she said. “But that’s easier said than done.”

Santana has posted a sign on the door to alert all of her customers.

Starting Aug. 7, the restaurant’s new hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays through Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays.
