UPDATED: I heard back from Cinnabon. Spokeswoman Loryn Franco said that the Towne East location closed “due to financial performance.” She said that the franchisee moved out of state and that the chain is looking for a new franchisee to take over the space.

Towne East Square is now a Cinnabon-free zone.

The mall’s Cinnabon, the purveyor of addictive cinnamon rolls that opened in the fall of 2011 by the food court and kid play area, closed last week.

A Towne East spokeswoman said she could not comment on the closing and referred me to Cinnabon. I’m awaiting a returned message from their spokeswoman. Cinnabon is no longer listed as a store on the Towne East website, and it’s also not listed as a location on the Cinnabon website.

Wichitans can still get Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, though. There are stores attached to the Schlotzsky’s at 8710 W. Central, 6507 E. Central and 1140 S. Rock Road.

I’ll let you know if I hear back from Cinnabon.
