Options for boba are now more limited on the west side.

The west-side Boba Zone, which opened three years ago at 21st and Tyler Road, right next door to Jose Pepper’s, has closed. It served boba teas, smoothies, juices, coffee drink and more.

Owner Diana Le, who is still running her east-side Boba Zone, said that she and her husband just got busy with their other full-time jobs and three children under 3 years old.

“The West side store was just stretching us thin,” she said.

Boba tea, or bubble tea, is a Taiwanese tea drink that is floating with chewy tapioca balls. Besides Boba Zone, it’s available at several Wichita shops and Asian restaurants, including ICTea at 3300 N. Rock Road, Beard Papa’s in Towne East Square and Yokohama Ramen Joint at 613 W. Douglas.
