Plenty of food options for hungry car enthusiasts at BlackTop Nationals

Don’t like muscle cars or motorcycles?

That doesn’t necessarily exclude you from enjoying this weekend’s fifth annual BlackTop Nationals, a classic car and motorcycle show that will take over downtown Wichita.

The three-day event, which runs Friday through Sunday around Century II, will include more festival food and food trucks than downtown’s seen since the Wichita Riverfest.

The food vendors will mostly be scattered around Kennedy Plaza and the area on the east side of Century II’s Expo Hall. On the list of vendors is Taste and See, the Old Town restaurant lead by chef Jason Febres, which will be roasting a whole pig over a spit.

Two barbecue food trucks also will be there, including Stubby’s and Blowin’ Smoke BBQ out of Augusta. Dry Creek Buffalo Co. Chuckwagon out of Wamego will be there serving buffalo burgers and more. Hopperoni Express, the pizza food truck run by Wichita Brewing Co. and Pizzeria, also will be there, as will two shaved ice trucks: Chilly’s Shaved Ice Co. and Kona Ice.

Visitors also can find funnel cakes, cinnamon roasted nuts, lemonade and a truck serving tacos and burritos. And on Saturday only, the No Taste Like Home, a Wizard of Oz-themed food truck from Hutchinson, will serve on McLean between Douglas and Maple from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
