You've gotta try it: Cafe 151

This might literally be the worst food photo I've ever taken, but it was the best one I got. Trust me, the food is way more attractive than this.I recieved an e-mail a few weeks ago from Andrew Gough, one of several local foodies who I rely on for news and guidance, saying that he’d tried Corporate Caterer’s new restaurant, Cafe 151, and was impressed by the food AND by the low, low, low prices.

He sold it so well that late last week, I stopped by the new restaurant, which recently opened in the former Piccadilly Express spot in the Cargill building at 151 N. Main.

My boss Lori and I, who had planned an excursion to view the super amazing Kansas art at nearby Emprise Bank, so we decided to swing by Cafe 151 for a quick lunch first.

She had a Philly panini, which was an amazingly melty delight, made with beef, caramelized onions, red peppers, mushrooms and Monterey Jack cheese.

My Southwestern chicken wrap, which is pictured in the subpar photo above, was also amazingly delicious, had grilled chicken breast, a black bean and corn relish, Spanish rice and honey mustard all stuffed inside a jalapeño-cheddar wrap,

The most amazing part: Lori’s sandwich was $6, my wrap was $5.50, and both included a drink, a side AND sales tax in the price. It was one of the most filling, satisfying and inexpensive lunches I’d had in a long time.

The resturant is a little busy and chaotic, and it’s hard to find a spot to sit over the lunch hour. And Lori and I foolishly parked at the back of the building and had to sweetalk our way through a locked employee entrance, so don’t make that mistake. But for people who want lunch-on-the-go, Cafe 151 is a great option.
