Andover is going all 1980s for its annual concert in the park, which this year will be headlined by Rick Springfield. The singer, best known for the hit “Jessie’s Girl,” will be joined by Night Ranger (“Sister Christian”) and The Romantics (“What I Like About You”).
The concert will be on June 18 in Andover’s Central Park, 1607 E. Central. The event will include food vendors and a fireworks show. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and the show will start at 7 p.m.
This is Andover’s fourth annual concert in the park. Last year’s show, with headliners Diamond Rio and Restless Heart, attracted 15,000 people.
The show has been free in the past, but organizers are charging admission this year. Also new this year: Coolers will not be allowed at the concert.
General admission tickets are $10, and ages 12 and under will be admitted free. Tickets will be available starting April 29 at bobfmwichita.com or in person at Wichita’s Jerseys Grill and Bar, 3213 N. Toben, and Indian Motorcycles, 8205 W. Kellogg. In Andover, they’ll be available at Collision Center of Andover, 948 N. Andover Road, and the Chamber of Commerce, 1951 N. Andover Road. In-person ticket purchases are cash only.
