Grammy-winning band The Roots, hip-hop legends Naughty By Nature, rising pop star Elle King and punk-rock band The Violent Femmes will be among the musical headliners at this year’s Wichita Riverfest, organizers announced on Wednesday.

Among the other acts the festival has booked for its event, which runs June 3 through June 11: Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Tasha Cobb, country acts A Thousand Horses and Brothers Osborne, and indie band Reel Big Fish.

Comedian Sinbad, who once lived in Wichita and is friends with local music legend Rudy Love, also will perform as a musical act.

The festival revealed the concert headliners one-by-one on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on Wednesday. All of the concerts will be free with a Riverfest button.

The original lineup of the Violent Femmes, known for hits like “Blister in the Sun” and “Kiss Off,” will perform June 4 on the Kennedy Plaza stage. The Meat Puppets will open.

A Thousand Horses, known for the country single “Smoke,” will co-headline with Brothers Osborne (“Stay a Little Longer”) at the Coleman Country Concert on June 5, also on Kennedy Plaza.

The 20th annual Gospelfest also will feature dual headliners – Cobb along with Zacardi Cortez. That show will be June 6 on the Kennedy Plaza Stage.

Then, on June 8, New Jersey hip-hop trio Naughty By Nature will perform on Kennedy Plaza. The group’s first big hit was 1991’s “O.P.P.”

On June 9, pop star Elle King, who sings the current radio hit “Ex’s & Oh’s,” will perform on Kennedy Plaza. Soul act The Suffers will open the show.

The Indie Showcase on June 10 will feature Caribbean-inspired ska band Reel Big Fish with opening act Fishbone, both performing on Kennedy Plaza.

The headliner for the finale show on June 11 is The Roots, who serve as the house band for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Other notable acts scheduled for the Red Guard Stage, which will be set up southeast of the Hyatt, include Brave Combo on June 6, Andy Frasco & The U.N. on June 3, Sinbad with Love on June 7, Moreland & Arbuckle on June 8, Fiesta del Rio on June 11 and red dirt performers William Clark Green and Hugh Masterson on June 10.

The lineup also will include local acts O’Phil, DJ Carbon, Big Red Horse, Kill Vargas, Divorce Corpse, Candy Lords, Haymakers, A Squared and more. The festival will announce a full list of the local bands hired to perform at Riverfest on social media on March 30.
