Matchbox 20 formed 20 years ago in Orlando, Fla., and front man Rob Thomas is heading to the Orpheum Theatre on Nov. 4. Tickets for the Orpheum show go on sale this Friday.

Matchbox 20’s first album “Yourself or Someone Like You” hit platinum in 1996. The group is known for such songs as “Push,” “3AM” and “Unwell.” In 2005, Thomas released his first solo album and has since collaborated with the likes of Santana, Mick Jagger and Willie Nelson.

In his news release, he sounds a bit like a man driven mad by the songs in his head: “I’m a guy who hears songs in his head, and I have to write them down, and I have to get them out,” Thomas said.
