The organizers of Wichita’s Elsewhere Fest, a Chase Koch-backed music festival that was introduced last year, on Monday announced plans for the second installment — and some bigger-name acts are on the bill.

Not only that, but the festival has a new name. This year, it’s the Somewhere Fest.

The 2025 festival is scheduled for June 13-14 in downtown Wichita. Among the names on the bill are headliners like Deadmau5, an electronic music star known for his over-sized mouse helmet, and Suki Waterhouse, a British singer/songwriter and actress.

Up-and-coming hip hop star and rapper BigXthaPlug also will perform along with several other national, local and regional acts.

The event is being put on by Koch’s nonprofits — Movement Musick and Midtopia organizations. It will also include food and art vendors as well as a conference aimed at artists, musicians and industry professionals.

In a news release, Koch was quoted as saying that the name change signifies that Wichita isn’t “elsewhere” anymore when it comes to music and culture. It’s now “somewhere.”

Last year’s festival, which featured headliners Killer Mike and Vince Staples, included more than 70 live performances and was staged at places like Wave, Nortons Brewing Co. and Naftzger Park.

This year, it will be staged both indoors and outdoors at Wave, 650 E. Second St., and also at the WhereElse Stage at Second and Emporia.
