Wichita State’s Markis McDuffie receives Instagram shoutout from rapper Fetty Wap
The rapper Fetty Wap posted a photo on Instagram with Wichita State freshman basketball player Markis McDuffie on Tuesday night.
The picture is both a testament to the national rise in prominence of Wichita State, due to its recent success on the basketball court, as well as Fetty Wap’s popularity.
The Kansas City Royals players have reportedly been dropping the numbers 17 and 38 into interviews because 1738 is a term Fetty Wap used in his song “Trap Queen” to represent his “squad in New Jersey: the Remy Boyz 178.”
Coming to a television near you: Lorenzo Cain saying, ;You can name 17, 38 great plays we've made."

McDuffie was pretty excited on his Twitter account, as well.
Great surprise by the fam, good talk with my man @fettywap what a blessing man #Paterson #973 #CreateYourself #FOE pic.twitter.com/j5X9XVYLvw
— Markis McDuffie (@ThatMcDuffieKid) July 29, 2015In addition to “Trap Queen” at No. 6, another of Fetty Wap’s songs is in the top 10 of this week’s Billboard Hot 100. With “My Way” at No. 7, Fetty Wap is the first male rapper to have two Top 10 hits at the same time since Lil Wayne in 2011.
Fetty Wap performed in June at Intrust Bank Arena as one of Lil Wayne’s opening acts.
