Craft beer and vinyl
The Tallgrass Film Association is sponsoring a fundraising event on Wednesday that will feature beer, music and a sneak peek at The Jaded Pearl, the new tea bar at 1716 E. Douglas that's owned by the people responsible for the Donut Whole next door.
The event, called " The Wrecking Crew & Brew: A Craft Beer and Vinyl Pairing," will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Jaded Pearl and will feature a craft beer tasting from the Manhattan, Kan.-based Tallgrass Brewing Company.
It also will feature music made by The Wrecking Crew, a group of studio musicians who played in the 1960s for artists such as The Beach Boys, Sonny & Cher and Frank Sinatra and were the subjects of a 2008 documentary called "The Wrecking Crew."
The film's director, Denny Tedesco, will be in attendance, and hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Cafe Maurice. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance at http://brewandcrew.eventbrite.com. Money raised will go to Tedesco and to the Tallgrass Film Association.
See the film
The next night at 7 p.m., Tallgrass will screen " The Wrecking Crew" at the Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas. Admission is $12 at the door and will include the movie, a question-and-answer session with the director and a reception. Money raised will go to director Denny Tedesco to help him pay for music rights for the film.
