Randy Rogers Band and friends at Hartman Arena
Randy Rogers Band, a country group known for the hit “Too Late For Goodbye,” will perform Friday at Hartman Arena. The group’s latest release is a two-disc live album called “Homemade Tamales.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show is at 7:30 p.m. The opening acts are red dirt group Turnpike Troubadours and Texas-based singer Wade Bowen, who recorded an album with Rogers. Tickets are $29.50 at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000. The show is open to all ages.
Musical fundraiser at Rhythm and Cues
The Wichita Blues Society will put on a musical fundraiser this weekend for one of its own – board member Richard Pina, who was recently diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. The fundraiser will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Rhythm and Cues, 1861 S. Hydraulic. Organizers are suggesting a $10 donation for entry. The lineup will include local acts including Piper Leigh; Richard Collins; Justin Murray; and the Pina Brothers, whose members are Richard Pina’s sons. The event also will include a silent auction and several drawings. Money raised will go to help pay for treatments in Houston. The show is open to all ages.
Comedian at Kirby’s
Local comedian Jessica Kay will perform a 45-minute stand-up set Saturday at Kirby’s Beer Store, 3227 E. 17th St. Kay, a 2014 Wichita State University graduate, works as a graphic designer but also has performed comedy around Wichita for more than a year. She’s also done stand up in Los Angeles, performed in Austin and has started a website that tracks local comedians called wichitacomedy.com. Kay also will perform at Lucky’s Everyday on March 14.
