Get outside for lunch downtown and catch a free concert

Starting with a performance by Gooding today, the free lunchtime Carnegie Concert Series in downtown’s Heritage Square returns for a second season.

Heritage Square is behind the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum and the Wichita Carnegie Library at 220 S. Main.

Several local food trucks – The Flying Stove, Funky Monkey Munchies, Brickhouse Barbecue and Uno Mas – will be on hand every Wednesday in September to provide lunch options while you enjoy the tunes in the park.

William Street between Main and Market will be closed during lunchtime Wednesdays in September to accommodate the food trucks and the crowds.

The concerts will take place every Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Here’s the lineup of bands playing in the concert series:

▪ Sept. 7 – Gooding, a touring rock band with two members originally from Wichita

▪ Sept. 14 – The Mudbugs, a local Cajun and Zydeco band

▪ Sept. 21 – Mountain Deer Revival, a red-dirt country band from Wichita

▪ Sept. 28 – Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy, local band that’s a mixture of punk, bluegrass and dixieland
