Share the Season: Leaky roof, illness draining woman’s finances

Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

A leaky roof is causing significant difficulties for a Wichita woman dealing with serious illness.

The 58-year-old required emergency surgery at a cost of $56,000 and now is out of money.

Her credit is not great, she says, so she has not been able to obtain a loan for a new roof.

And the longer the roof leaks, the more damage she will have to pay off eventually.

She is requesting aid from Share the Season to repair her roof so she can then get insurance on it.

“I find that it is not easy to ask for help when I have been somewhat financially able to help myself, but I need the help,” she said.

Share the Season is a joint project of The Eagle, the Wichita Community Foundation and the Salvation Army.

So far this season, it has raised $201,882.
