Share the Season: Woman gets help for family after being laid off

Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

The woman and her boyfriend were providing for three kids when she got laid off from the job she had held for nine years.

The boyfriend’s mother died, and the couple had to pay funeral expenses.

The woman found some part-time work, but even with his job, it wasn’t enough to keep the lights on.

To her, getting a gift from Share the Season means that her family can have Christmas without being overrun by debt.

Share the Season is a joint project of The Eagle, the Wichita Community Foundation and the Salvation Army.

So far this season, it has raised more than $227,510.

Send contributions to Share the Season at the Wichita Community Foundation, 301 N. Main, Suite 100, Wichita, KS 67202.
