Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
The single mother of three children was laid off in November.
She has another job that will start in January. But until she applied for Share the Season, she worried how bills would be paid. Her small family lives in a two-bedroom apartment.
She wrote on her application, “My children still try to encourage me that everything is going to be OK … I’m asking for help with my car note, because I need to get the baby to daycare, kids to school, and job search, and tax school! Your help would be greatly appreciated.”

“I was behind, and they helped me,” the woman said in a later interview.
Share the Season assisted in paying utilities and helping her catch up on some bills.
“I wouldn’t have anything,” she said. “Whoever gave those donations, I want to give a big shout out, ‘Thank you!’ They were a big help.”
