One of Wichita’s earliest and most popular holiday activities has been moved up by a day because of expected weather.

The annual Bradley Fair Tree Lighting Ceremony was originally scheduled for this Sunday, Nov. 19. But the shopping center at 21st and Rock Road announced on Wednesday that the event would happen on Saturday, Nov. 18, instead. Forecasts are calling for rain and thunder on Sunday.

The event is now happening from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. The center’s outdoor tree will be lit at 6 p.m., and other activities scheduled include photos with Santa, a meet-and-greet with The Grinch, music by Studio Singers, an appearance by the Metropolitan Ballet, and rides on Bradley Fair’s electric train, which will transport people around the center. The train will run from 4 to 8 p.m., and a ride costs $3 for ages 5 and over.

Visitors on Saturday also will be able to sample food and drink from various Bradley Fair merchants.
