Mom trying to catch up on bills after accident. Here’s how you can help
Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
This single mother has been working hard for years to support her daughter. But a car wreck in October and health problems – not to mention time off from work – had her playing catchup.
"I just want to be able to get back on track to be self-sufficient again," she wrote in her Share the Season application.
Share the Season helped her get there.
"They helped me with all my bills," she said. "It made it a little more easy for me to manage my money and not fall further behind."
Now she doesn’t have to worry about the electricity being shut off or losing the heat in the house, she said. Plus, it means there’s a little more money to spend on quality time with her daughter.
"I feel really grateful, they were so generous," she said. "I’m glad I was able to find help when I needed it.
"It was definitely a blessing."
Share the Season is a joint project of The Eagle, the Wichita Community Foundation and the Salvation Army.
So far this season, it has raised $45,796.
