Pie or cake for the holidays? How about both in one dish.

As we continue into the holiday season, food is sure to be a topic of conversation between family members preparing for the feasts.

Turkey or ham? Hawaiian rolls or crescent rolls? Pie or cake?

And why pick one when you can have both?

That is certainly the case with this year’s trendy dessert, the PieCaken.

And whether it’s more cake, or more pie, that is for you to decide.

In one rendering of the dessert, the three-layer PieCaken retailed at $75 from FoodyDirect has pecan pie on the bottom, pumpkin pie in the middle and an apple upside-down cake on top. It is layered together and frosted with cinnamon buttercream.

The dessert is already sold out for shipping the week of Thanksgiving, but you can still order one for Christmas. It serves 12-16 people.

In other interpretations of the dessert, a full pie can be found baked inside of a cake.

If homemade is more your style, or if you really want one for Thanksgiving, the PieCaken can be made at home.

A quick “PieCaken” search yielded many trending recipes for different variations of the PieCaken, from pumpkin-focused to chocolate-centered.

Many brave makers of this compromising dessert have taken their results to Twitter.
