Easter-related events in Wichita area include egg hunts, concerts

In addition to church services celebrating Easter on Sunday, there are concerts, Easter egg hunts and other events this weekend in the Wichita area to mark the spring holiday, as well as a performance of Bach’s “Passion According to St. Matthew” marking Good Friday in Lindsborg. Peak tulip bloom is expected at Botanica in Wichita (open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday) and at Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine. Easter Eggstravaganza at the Sedgwick County Zoo, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 5555 Zoo Blvd. Children can bring their Easter baskets to gather treats as well as visit the Easter bunny and get their photos taken, count eggs for a prize, play games, make crafts and watch zoo animals receive their own treats. Jazz and tulips at Bartlett Arboretum, Friends University’s SOULstice Jazz Combo led by Lisa Hittle, 4 p.m. Sunday, Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine. The day will start at 7 a.m. with a sunrise service led by area churches, and the gates will be open all day for people to enjoy the trees and tulips, take pictures or re-hide their eggs. Picnics are welcome, and food will be for sale from Luciano’s starting at 3 p.m. A $5 donation is asked during the day, a $10 donation for the concert; www.bartlettarboretum.com.
