Here at The Eagle, we know what you really want for the holidays.

You want free and cheap stuff, as do I.

Around this time of year, money can get pretty tight and bank accounts can be stretched awfully thin, but fear not – that doesn’t mean your festive fun has to be cut short.

There are plenty of holiday events in Wichita that won’t break the bank.

Try some of these on for size.

Free holiday events

Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 23: Bradley Fair carriage rides, 6-10 p.m. Horse-drawn carriage rides through miles of crystal lights in Bradley Fair, originating at the fountain at Bradley Fair Plaza, 21st and Rock Road. www.bradleyfair.com, 316-630-9990

Saturday and Dec. 17: Old Town Square carriage rides, noon-4 p.m. Horse-drawn carriage rides through Old Town, originating in front of the Warren Theatre Old Town, 353 N. Mead.

Nightly through Dec. 28: The Arc’s Lights, 5:30-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 5:30-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 5:30-11:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. The drive-through light display with 1.9 million lights starts at Douglas and St. Paul. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 24: A Country Christmas at Fulton Valley Farms, 6-9 p.m. Walk through thousands of lights, a live Nativity vignette every night at 7:45 p.m., live reindeer on exhibit (you can see them for a small fee) and hot drinks/snacks for sale. Thursday, Dec. 8: Carillon Christmas Concert, noon-1 p.m. Stand outside and listen to the historic downtown carillon play Christmas tunes outside the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main. www.wichitahistory.org, 316-265-9314

Thursday, Dec. 8: A Night With Santa, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the city of Wichita’s Park and Recreation Department. Enjoy carnival games, a cake walk, bingo and crafts. Century II Exhibition and Convention halls, 225 W. Douglas.

Friday, Dec. 9: Community Carol Sing, 7-8:30 p.m. Holiday carol singing with a performance of Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” and a reading of “The Tale of Three Trees,” presented by Music on Site; Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 3700 E. Mt. Vernon. 316-683-7535

Friday-Saturday, Dec. 9-10: “A Christmas Carol ... Scrooge,” 7 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday. Sunday, Dec. 11: Living Nativity, 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30 p.m. Living Nativity, plus display of Advent symbols, children’s and family activities, toys made by the Sunflower Woodworkers Guild for the needy, a coffee bar and demonstrations by organist David Cason. Tuesday, Dec. 13: Air Capital Chorus Christmas Radio Hour, 7 p.m. Old-time-style radio comedy featuring local celebrities and singing groups that will be recorded and played back on KNSS 1330 AM at 8 a.m. Christmas Eve.
