Authors to read from, sign new works, hosted by Watermark

Upcoming events hosted by Watermark Books & Cafe:

▪ Local author Ian Fairfield will be at Watermark Books & Cafe at 6 p.m. Tuesday to read from and sign his debut novel, “Hunt for God’s Chosen.” The book is a political thriller based in the Middle East. Its premise is that another scroll is discovered in the caves near the Dead Sea. When translated, the scroll prophesizes the coming of God’s Chosen. The scroll also says that Saeed, leader of the Quds terrorist organization, will vow to kill the Chosen. Stopping the terrorists is the mission of the Protectors. If they succeed, there will be peace in the Middle East.

The book has been praised for its factual research and has been compared to early works by Tom Clancy. The event is free and open to the public.

▪ Watermark Books & Cafe, in cooperation with Grace Presbyterian Church, will host author Elizabeth Gilbert, worldwide bestselling author of “Eat Pray Love,” for a reading and signing of her newest book, “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear.” The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Grace Presbyterian, 5002 E. Douglas. Tickets are $27.95, plus tax, and include a copy of Gilbert’s book.

In “Big Magic,” Gilbert explores how curiosity, inspiration and creativity can help the reader find the path to a vibrant, fulfilling life. She shows readers how to tackle what they most love, and how to face down what they most fear. She discusses the attitudes readers need to live their most creative lives.

Watermark Books & Cafe is at 4701 E. Douglas. For more information, call 316-682-1181.
