‘The Dead Guy’ at Wichita State University

WSU’s school of performing arts will be presenting Eric Coble’s “The Dead Guy,” a satirical look at modern reality television and its viewers. The show will run Thursday through Feb. 22 at WSU’s Wilner Auditorium. The play focuses on a down-on-his-luck protagonist who is given the chance to spend $1 million over the course of seven days while TV crews film him. At the end of the week, he has to die, with viewers choosing how he dies. The show is at 7 p.m. Feb. 19-21 and 2 p.m. Feb. 22. Tickets are $10 for the general public, $8 for seniors, $6 for children and students at wichita.edu/fineartsboxoffice or 316-978-3233.

Peace, Pies and Prophets at University Friends Church

As part of the tour of Peace, Pies and Prophets, the two-man satire “I’d Like to Buy an Enemy” will be performed at University Friends Church, 1840 W. University, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The show tackles our “culture of fear” and issues of justice and peace. Admission is free, but pies will be auctioned as a fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit Christian Peacemaker Teams and Food 4 Kids. For more information, visit tedandcompany.com.

Mipso at the LUX

Americana band Mipso performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lux, 120 E. First St. Mipso, a quartet out of North Carolina, calls its sound “dark holler pop,” also the title of the group’s second album. Admission to the show is a suggested donation of $15.
