‘Cards for the Cure’
The Beech Activity Center, 9710 E. Central, will host the fifth annual “Cards for the Cure” on Friday and Saturday. The event will include poker tournaments, which will award winners with up to $10,000 in cash prizes. All proceeds will go toward Susan G. Komen Kansas, an organization dedicated to breast cancer research. The event will also include a football-themed MVP Bash and Survivor Celebration at 7 p.m. Friday. Pat Smith, founder of nonprofit Treasure You and wife of former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, will speak. Other events: high roller tournament (6 p.m. Friday), Kansas Poker Championship (10 a.m. Saturday) and ladies-only poker party (4 p.m. Saturday). Rodeo Drive rack sale
Shop name-brand handbags and clothing from Chanel to Givenchy at the Rodeo Drive: ICT Style. The event is 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central. Attendees can shop and purchase designer clothing and bags donated by local women. Proceeds benefit the Wichita Center for the Arts. Comedian J.R. Brow at Loony Bin
Austin, Texas-based comedian J.R. Brow is performing shows this weekend at the Loony Bin, 215 N. St. Francis. Brow specializes in a variety of comic genres, including musical bits and impersonations. He has been featured on Comedy Central and on CBS’ “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” Brow performs at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $12.
