Wichita Bridal Expo

Planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful experiences in life, so get some help at the Wichita Bridal Expo this weekend. More than 250 vendors will be on the show floor with the latest in bridal gowns, tuxedos, prom dresses and more. You can also enjoy wine tastings and a pasta bar while you figure out just how you want the big day to unfold.

Lidia Bastianich book signing

Aspiring culinary artists or those who just love Italian food will want to attend this talk and book signing for celebrity Italian chef Lidia Bastianich. Bastianich, who owns several restaurants and has been a television presence since 1998, will sign copies of her new book “Lidia’s Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine.” Freddy’s Frozen Custard co-founder Scott Redler is the moderator.

The Candy Lords at Barleycorn’s

If you are craving some country-infused classic rock, look no further than The Candy Lords at Barleycorn’s. This local band compares itself to genre heavyweights like The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers while promising “a bit o’twang” in their sound. Special guests Uche & The Crash will also perform at this 21-and-over show.

‘Scenery, Story, Spirit’ exhibit closing at WAM

Since September, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art has displayed 52 paintings and eight sculptures from its collection of uniquely American art at the Wichita Art Museum. The exhibit ends on Jan. 17, so you are running out of chances to see this collection of 19th and 20th century landscapes, narrative paintings and more.

Outlaw Blues Society at Hotel at Waterwalk

If you are tired of walking out of concerts with your ears ringing, the Outlaw Blues Society may be just the thing. They seek to spread the good word of blues music in quiet, friendly settings while displaying the skills it takes to put on a show with the volume down. Outlaw Blues Society featured member Lewis Cowdrey will also talk about his experiences in the world of Texas blues.

Kansas Grown! Indoor Market

For the finest in fresh, Kansas-grown produce, the Kansas Grown! Indoor Market is the place to be. The largest of its kind in Wichita, the market will feature wares from more than 50 farmers and crafters, including meats, salsa, jams and baked goods. Handmade gifts such as wood crafts and candles will also be available for sale.

Rock climbing

Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex — which bills itself as Wichita’s only full-service indoor rock climbing gym — is hosting a bunch of activities this weekend to celebrate its grand opening. Two professional rock climbers — Jon Cardwell and Ryan Sewell — will be there Friday and Saturday to lead small-group clinics for $100 with pre-registration. There will also be a pull up and push up contest, milk crate stacking contests, climbing challenges and more. The Nashville-based band Danger Scene will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, and from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday there’s an after-hours party with a DJ.
