‘Great Russian Nutcracker,’ candlelight concert, Wade Hampton art show

‘Great Russian Nutcracker’

The Moscow Ballet will present its “Great Russian Nutcracker” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway. Forty Russian performers will take the stage along with larger-than-life puppets, life-sized Matryoshka dolls and, new this year, a Russian Christmas puppet play and Masha’s magical toy cabinet. Candlelight concert

The Singing Quakers will perform Christmas music to candlelight in three concerts, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center at Friends University. Friends’ Concert Choir also will join in, as will the audience in a few carols. Tickets are $16 for adults and $13 for seniors and students, available online at friends.edu/finearts or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.

Wade Hampton’s art at home

“Hampton + Hate’s Holiday Home Art Show of Love” will feature more than 100 new works by Wichitan Wade Hampton. Fourteen large-scale paintings will be exhibited as well as unframed works on paper, available for cash-and-carry sale. The event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hampton’s house at 417 N. Quentin. Admission is free.
