Create and donate art

The Wichita Center for the Arts will have an art gallery where just kids can shop during Autumn & Art from Sept. 18 to 20 at Bradley Fair. To prepare an inventory for the Artie’s Clubhouse gallery, kids ages 8 and up and adults can create artworks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the center at 9112 E. Central. All materials will be provided, and the artwork that is created will be donated to Artie’s Clubhouse. Proceeds from the art sales at the gallery during Autumn & Art will go to the center’s educational programs. Pieces also can be donated by calling Lauren at 316-634-2787 or e-mailing school@wcfta.com. Prices for the artwork will range from $3 to $10.

Woodwind quintet

The F5 Winds, a woodwind quintet composed of members of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, will play at Shift Space from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Shift Space is Wichita State University’s student gallery downtown at 416 S. Commerce, Suite 102. The First Friday musical performance by the quintet will be free.

Lecture recital at Friends University

Learn about the history of the Yankee Tunesmiths – a group of composers who defined American music from 1770 to 1810 – through the ensemble Jargon, as they present “Singing America’s Early Music: The Yankee Tunesmiths” at Friends University on Tuesday. The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Auditorium in the Davis Building on the campus at 2100 W. University Ave. More info: 316-295-5677.
