Three arts events this weekend (Aug. 28)

A tribute to Tandoc

An art show honoring the late Tanya Tandoc will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at The Lux, 120 E. First St. “Vessels: Filling the Hollows” will feature art, music by Jenny Wood and hors d’oeuvres by the Butler Culinary Arts Program. A suggested $5 donation at the door, along with half of the proceeds from the artwork, will go to some of Tandoc’s favorite nonprofits.

Calamity Cubes alfresco

The Ulrich Museum’s final Art for Your Ears concert of the summer will feature the locally grown Calamity Cubes at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cubes call themselves a “thrashicana” band — country, folk and bluegrass meets punk. Because of construction, the free concert will be on the south lawn of Wilner Auditorium on the Wichita State campus. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. (Rain location: WSU Campus Activities Center Theater.) Light refreshments will be served, and the first floor of the Ulrich will be open at 6:30 p.m. for a pre-show viewing of Gerco de Ruijter’s exhibition “On the Grid.” More info: ulrich.wichita.edu.

All Media Craft Exhibition

The Wichita National All Media Craft Exhibition, made up of 68 works by artists from across the United States, will open Friday with an artist reception and awards presentation from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will run through Oct. 18 at the Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central. Admission is free. More info: www.wcfta.com or www.craftcouncil.org.
