Three arts events this weekend (Oct. 17)
Pick a postcard
Thousands and thousands of postcards from more than 35 dealers from all over the country will be on display and for sale this weekend at the 37th annual Wichita International Postcard Club Show, at All Saints gym, 3313 E. Grand. The postcards will be categorized many different ways so you can find what you’re interested in. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The show will include exhibits, and food will be for sale. Admission is free.
Porter Street artists
What started out as a fall event put on by artists on one block of Porter Street in Riverside has grown this year to feature the creative work of 23 Riversiders. The Porter Street Artists & Friends event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Stained glass, paintings, clothing, outdoor furniture and many small items will be for sale at 932, 941 and 945 N. Porter. Food also will be for sale. Riverside Elementary School, at 1001 N. Porter, will be selling bricks.
Nielsen’s latest
Wichita artist Bill Nielsen will show his recent sketches and oil paintings from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Oxford Grand assisted living community, 3051 N. Parkdale Circle, just west of Maize Road on 29th Street. Nielsen has been an artist for more than 50 years. Make reservations by calling 316-927-2007 or email mgaylord@oxfordseniorliving.com.
