Kelsey Grammer, 5-time Emmy Award winner, will join Wichita Grand Opera for ‘Candide’

Kelsey Grammer, five-time Emmy Award winner, will join Wichita Grand Opera for a production of “Candide” on April 27-28 at Century II Concert Hall.

Grammer will narrate the operetta, whose authors include Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, and portray Dr. Pangloss. Metropolitan Opera veteran Emily Pulley also will be in the cast. The orchestra and chorus will be conducted by WGO artistic director Whitney Reader.

Grammer won four Emmys as psychiatrist Frasier Crane in “Cheers” and its spinoff, “Frasier.” His fifth Emmy was for guest voice on “The Simpsons” as Sideshow Bob. Grammer revived the character for a reboot of “Frasier” last year on the Paramount+ streaming service.
