Nikki Moddelmog, Julian Lage Trio, Blair Crimmins & the Hookers

Jazz-infused folk

Wichita singer and songwriter Nikki Moddelmog will perform jazz-infused folk with Shane Marler and Dennis Hardin on Thursday at the first Art for Your Ears concert of the summer outside the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University. The museum galleries will open at 6:30 p.m. for pre-show browsing, and the free concert starts at 7 p.m. on the McKnight Outdoor Plaza (rain location: Campus Activities Center Theater). Refreshments will be provided; bring a lawn chair. Two more concerts make up the series, on Aug. 6 and Sept. 1.

Improvisational jazz

The Julian Lage Trio will perform Thursday through July 11 as part of Chamber Music at the Barn at Prairie Pines. The New York City trio plays improvisational jazz – both original music and standards – on electric guitar, acoustic bass and drums. The concerts begin at 8 each evening. Optional dinner is available at 6:30 p.m.; concert and dinner tickets range from $27 to $47. Concert-only tickets are $12 to $32. Picnics also are welcome, and wine and beer will be for sale. Dixieland jazz

Ragtime and Dixieland jazz will float over Botanica on Tuesday as Blair Crimmins & the Hookers perform at Tuesdays on the Terrace. The music goes from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; the gardens are open until 8. Admission is $7, $3 for members. Molino’s will have dinner for sale for $8, and picnics also are welcome. Drinks will be on tap; the theme for this week is Gardenias & Golden Clippers.
