Award-winning singer and actress will perform in Wichita next year

Kristin Chenoweth, a Broadway and television star with Emmy and Tony awards on her resume, is coming to Wichita next year.

The singer and actress will perform on May 16 at the Century II Concert Hall with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, it was announced on Friday.

Tickets for the show, which will feature Chenoweth performing with Wichita’s Symphony Orchestra accompanying her, will go on sale on Feb. 9. They’ll be available at wichitasymphony.org, and prices will be announced later.

The show will be based on Chenoweth’s new album “For the Girls,” which pays tribute to famous musical women who influenced her, including Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton and Judy Garland.

Chenoweth is known for originating the role of Glinda the Good Witch in Broadway’s “Wicked” and won an Emmy for her role on the ABC series “Pushing Daisies.”
