‘Anchorman of Steel’
Carol Hughes has written a spoof mash-up of “Superman” and “Anchor Man” and dubbed it “Anchorman of Steel,” now being performed at Mosley Street Melodrama. The comedy, about an anchorman who never gets to report any juicy news because Superman is always stepping in, is followed after intermission by a “Totally Rad” musical revue of hits from the ’80s. Performances are Thursday through Saturday evenings through July 18 at 234 N. Mosley. Dinner buffet is served at 6:15 p.m., and “Anchorman” starts at 7:50. Tickets are $28, $24 for seniors, and $22 for ages 12 and under for dinner and show (rated PG-13), or $18 for the show only. Community theater comedy
A comedy that portrays a painfully shy young man visiting a fishing lodge who pretends he can’t speak English in order not to have to make conversation — but then overhears bad guys discussing their plots — is playing at the Wichita Community Theatre, 258 N. Fountain. Performances of “The Foreigner” are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 7 p.m. Sunday through June 28. Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit
An exhibit of photographs of the building of Wichita’s Frank Lloyd Wright house has opened at the Wichita Center for the Arts to celebrate Wright’s 148th birthday. The exhibit, which also includes artifacts such as a letter from Wright about building the house and items from the house when it belonged to the original owners, is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday through July 5 at the center at 9112 E. Central. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Wright’s Allen House, at 255 N. Roosevelt, is open for tours by appointment. The website is www.fllwallenhouse.org.
