Chihuly work at Wichita Art Museum gets a cleaning

Rollin Karg inspects a piece of glass removed from Dale Chihuly's "Persian Seaform Ceiling," the colorful bridge of blown-glass pieces just inside the Wichita Art Museum. After disassembling the 600-piece bridge of blown glass at the Wichita Art Museum, Rollin Karg and his staff at Karg Art Glass clean each piece Tuesday in the museum’s great hall.

The pieces of glass come together to form Dale Chihuly’s “Persian Seaform Ceiling” just inside the museum.

This is the first time since the work was installed in 2003 that it has been cleaned.

The glass panels that form the top and bottom of the “Ceiling” also are getting the once-over.

Museum visitors can watch the process during regular museum hours. Karg expects the work to be completed by Thursday.
