Dudegrass Six

Film fanatics will fill Northrock Lanes Saturday night to help the Tallgrass Film Association celebrate its sixth annual Dudegrass festival, a “Lebowski Extravaganza.” The event, based off of the 1998 indie film, “The Big Lebowski,” will include unlimited bowling and shoe rental, drink and food specials, a costume contest, Lebowski-oke on the lanes and more.

Jonathan Tyler and William Clark Green will co-headline, with Tyler bringing experience from touring with AC/DC and Kid Rock to Green providing his indie vocals and singer-songwriter talents.

The Ulrich Museum of Art will host Aaron Moreland and Dustin Arbuckle Thursday at the McKnight Outdoor Plaza for a free community concert. The Art for Your Ears event will showcase the two performers with country blues, folk and tradition southern sounds. The museum recommends those coming to enjoy the acoustic show bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Refreshments will be provided.

Anyone who loves the Darius Rucker cover of “Wagon Wheel” should stop by the Cotillion Thursday to see the song performed by its original makers, the indie folk band Old Crow Medicine Show. The band, with its six members, has been awarded two Grammys and was selected as members of the Grand Ole Opry. With their unique sounds, from the harmonica to the mandolin, Old Crow Medicine Show will bring a smooth Americana feel to the Cotillion stage. The evening will starts with opener Don Flemons, an old-time folk artist.

Billy Bob Thorton and the Boxmasters, an American roots rock band that formed in 2007, will take the stage Friday at the Stiefel. The band, which has influences from ’60s British mod music and Southern American music, recently released a new album, “Somewhere Down the Road.” The stop at the Stiefel is one of many for the Boxmasters, who are in the middle of a long tour throughout the south and Midwest to showcase their newest album.

The Stiefel will be filled with folk blues and rock tunes Saturday as Lucinda Williams and Buick 6 take the stage. Williams, a country music singer-songwriter, is touring fresh off the release of her latest album, “Ghosts of Highway 20.” The singer has garnered 15 Grammy nominations throughout her over decade long career, winning three total. Her latest release marks album 13 of her career.

Masquerave at the Cotillion

The Cotillion and Nocturnal by Nature will host a masquerade-themed rave Saturday with performances from Designer Drugs, Injuntrubl, Banger Bros, G-Note, Swell and ET. A show packed with EDM and club-banging music, the Masquerave will have concertgoers on their feet all night. Fans can text “EDM” to 49798 for concert updates and a chance to win free tickets.

Back to School Bash at Heroes

Heroes Sports Bar & Grill will help college students celebrate their last few days of summer with a Back to School Bash over the weekend. The bar welcomes students to come decked out in their school colors and will be giving away prizes for the most spirited. A deejay will perform and the cover charge will be waived for the evening.

Stamp Show at Cessna Activity Center

The Wichita Stamp Club will sponsor the Wichita Stamp and Coin Show at the Cessna Activity Center this weekend, with various exhibition booths on display. There will be stamp and coin dealer, a booth for young collectors, and a personalized help and question session.

Indian Center’s Museum Flip Flop

The Mid-America All-Indian Center is bringing back its Museum Flip Flop event for the second year this Saturday. Visitors will have the chance to tour the MAAIC museum with the lights off, using only flashlights to guide the way. Museum director Sarah Adams will lead the patrons through and interactive tour. Story time, which usually takes places at night under the stars, will happen during the daytime, inside the Gallery of Nations. There will be crafts and children’s activities and the event will raise funds for the MAAIC’s educational and outreach programs.
