Village People, the 1970s pop group known for its wild costumes and for its hit “YMCA,” will perform at this year’s Wichita Riverfest.

According to the Village People website, the group will perform in Wichita on June 3. The group’s management in New York on Monday confirmed that the concert would be at the Wichita River Festival.

Wichita Festivals Inc. president Mary Beth Jarvis said she could not confirm or deny the information. The festival plans to unveil its entertainment lineup starting later this month.

Village People still has two original members: soldier Alex Briley and Native American Felipe Rose. Cop Ray Simpson, who is the lead singer, has been with the group since 1979.

This year’s Wichita Riverfest will run May 29 through June 6.
