A sure sign that summer is slipping away: Wichita’s swimming venues are all preparing to close for the season.

Several city pools closed after last weekend. The rest will close in the coming weeks. The YMCA Waterparks, suburban pools and Derby’s Rock River Rapids also are almost ready to close.

Here’s a list that will help you plan your final dip of the summer:

City swimming pools

Admission is $3 adults, $2 children 17 and under, $8 for a family of six.

Aley pool, 1800 S. Seneca: Last day is Sunday, Aug. 14. Hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Harvest pool, 9500 W. Provincial. Last Day is Sunday, Aug. 14. Hours are 1 to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

College Hill pool, 304 S. Circle Drive: Last day is Sunday, Aug. 21. Hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Already closed: Boston, Evergreen, Linwood, McAdams, Minisa and Orchard pools.

Water parks

Rock River Rapids, 1900 E. James, Derby. Open until Tuesday, Aug. 16. Hours are 12:30-7 p.m. daily. Admission: $9 adults, $8 children 3-17, free for children 2 and under when accompanied by a guest 16 or older.

Wellington Family Aquatic Center, 1101 W. Harvey, Wellington. Closing for the season on Sunday, Aug. 14. Hours are 1-7 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission: $3 ages 2 and older, free for children under 2.

Andover YMCA Waterpark and Northwest YMCA Waterpark: Both will remain open from 1 to 7 p.m. daily through Sunday, Aug. 14; from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 15-19; and from 1 to 7 p.m. weekends only Aug. 20-Sept. 4.

North YMCA Waterpark and South YMCA Waterpark: Both will remain open from 1 to 7 p.m. daily through Friday, Aug. 19; and from 1 to 7 p.m. weekends only Aug. 20-Sept. 4.

Suburban pools

Augusta, 1501 Dearborn St. Closing for the season on Sunday, Aug. 14. Hours are 1-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission: $3 adults, $1.75 children 5-12, free for children under 5.

Goddard, 200 S. Main. Closing for the season on Aug. 28. Hours are 1 to 6 p.m. through Tuesday, Aug. 16; then 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 20-21 and Aug. 27-28. Admission: $2 for all ages.

Haysville, 525 Sarah Lane. Closing for the season on Aug. 21. Hours: 1-6:30 p.m. daily. Admission: $1 ages 5 and under, $2.50 ages 6-61, $1.50 older than 61.

Newton, 401 N. Santa Fe. Closing for the season on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Hours: 1-5 p.m. daily, 7-9 p.m. Monday-Friday for family swim. Admission: $2.75 adults and children 14 and older, $2 children 5-13, free for children under 5.

Valley Center, 255 E. Allen. Closed for the season.

Interactive fountains

The fountains and splashpads will continue to run through October. All are free and operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, except Old Town and Buffalo Park, which run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
