Arts events: Garvey House show, WSU Symphony Concerto
Art Show at the House
The Garvey House at 8427 E. Douglas is hosting a Valentine’s Day viewing and sale of wearable art from a variety of artists. The two-day event takes place from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Artists include Rachelle Ablah Pulkkila, Nanetta Maria, Christina Renee Rodriguez, Laura Wandry, Ze Bernardinello and Jackie Evans. WSU Symphony Concerto
Wichita State University’s Symphony Orchestra Concerto Aria Honors concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Concert Hall at WSU. Accompanied by WSU’s symphony orchestra, six student soloists will perform music from classical legends such as Handel, Bizet, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. Cantus at the Stiefel
The nine-member men’s vocal ensemble Cantus will perform Sunday at Salina’s Stiefel Theatre, 151 S. Santa Fe. The group, which hails from Minnesota, performs music from many eras, from the Renaissance to the 21st century. On its tour, the group is performing a show called “Anthem,” which looks at the traditions and customs of singing around the world. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $28, $35 and $42, available by calling 785-827-1998 or at www.ticketmaster.com.
