Kansas Railfest
The Great Plains Transportation Museum is teaming up with Union Station developer Occidental Management for the first Kansas Railfest, a new event that will feature music, food, artists, shopping and food. It also will include toy trains, garden trains and a historic miniature live steam locomotive. Trolley rides and a scavenger hunt also will be part of the day, and visitors can see inside Union Station. It all happens at the Great Plains Transportation Museum and Union Station on either side of the 700 block of East Douglas. Money raised will go to the museum.
Details: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat., July 16, 700 block of East Douglas. Admission $8 cash for adults, free for ages 11 and under. Tickets also available at Dillons stores. Kids must be accompanied by adult.
Wichita Wings reunion party FREE ALERT
Fans can relive the glory days of Wichita Wings soccer during a launch party Sunday for the new book “Make This Town Big: The Story of Roy Turner and the Wichita Wings.” The book is by Tim O’Bryhim and Michael Romalis. All former Wings players, staff members and fans are invited to the event, which is free. The book will be for sale, and old video of Wings games will be playing. Several former players and coaches have already confirmed that they’ll be at the event, including Turner, Andy Chapman, Norman Piper, Chico Borja, Kevin Kewley, Kim Roentved, Terry Nicholl, Victor Moreland and Larry Inlow.

Digisaurus brings synthpop to Pumphouse
Digisaurus, a synthpop act from Columbus, Ohio, is touring and will bring its summer tour to the Pumphouse this weekend. The group, a project by artist and producer James Allison, has a sound that combines funk, rock and R&B influences. The group just released its new single “Charlie’s Got Me Runnin’” on Soundcloud.

Big Fat Fun reunion FREE ALERT
Big Fat Fun, a once-popular Wichita band that hasn’t performed together since 2013, is reuniting on Friday to perform as part of KEYN’s Summer Concert Series, which continues on Fridays through Aug. 12 at the Wichita WaterWalk Commons, 515 S. Main. The show also will feature food and drink by Xclusive Booze Truck, Drink Local Truck, ICT Fried, The Flying Stove, Lil’ Bit Burgers, The Brown Box Bakery and North Shore Shaved Ice. Bring lawn chairs but not pets.

Discount Days at Exploration Place
People can get into Exploration Place on Sunday, July 17, for $2.98, and that price includes admission to all the exhibits, including Dinosaurs in Motion, and one dome theater film. The discount is part of an iHeartRadio Summer of Fun Discount Day, and the price is good from noon to 5 p.m. iHeartRadio staff members also will be at the entrance giving away Dr. Pepper products.

Irish comedy at Wichita Community Theatre
“Outside Mullingar,” the latest offering by Wichita Community Theatre, is an Irish comedy by John Patrick Shanley (“Doubt”) and tells the story of an Irish couple looking for love. The lead performers in the show are married actors Dan and Vonda Schuster. The play also stars Don Wineke and Crystal Meek.

Pop-up market at The Monarch
The Monarch will be the site of a pop-up market planned for Sunday in the Delano District. The Mid-Summer Soiree, organized by Liv Grant, a local maker of hand-dyed homegoods and clothing, and Genny Werth, who makes knitware, accessories and embroidered tees, will feature several Wichita makers of handmade items, including pottery, candles, jewelry and more. The event also will have food trucks, including Little Lion Ice Cream and Sunflower Espresso.

Bruh-man on stage
The comedian who portrayed “Bruh-man” on the Fox sitcom “Martin” will be in Wichita this weekend to perform. Reginald Ballard will appear at Wichita venue A Touch of Class as part of a show put on by local comedians Roy “Uncle Bam” Gilmore and Brandon Winn.

Grammy-nominated Christian singer in concert
Grammy-nominated Christian singer William McDowell is headlining a concert that’s part of this weekend’s Great Plans Conference of the United Methodist Church. The concert, which is open to the public, happens on Friday, July 16. McDowell earned a Grammy nomination for his 2013 gospel album “Withholding Nothing,” and he’ll be backed by a choir of singers from around the state. Proceeds from the show will help support GraceMed, a nonprofit health clinic, and United Methodist Open Door, which offers food, clothing and shelter to those in need.

CityArts Xtravaganza 2016
An auction of local and regional art along with food stations, wine, music and an exhibition of teacher and student art will be part of CityArts’ Xtravaganza 2016. The event will raise money for scholarships for CityArts, allowing more people in the community the opportunity to be creative and explore art classes. The Xtravaganza event will Saturday, July 16, at CityArts. The Flatland String Band will provide the music, restaurants including Nothing Bundt Cakes and the Monarch will have food stations, and Beyond Napa will provide the wine.
