‘Downton Abbey’ historical adviser to speak in Wichita

The man who serves as historical adviser to the popular PBS series “Downton Abbey” will be in Wichita this month to talk about his role and to tell stories from behind the scenes of the production.

Alastair Bruce, a commentator on British news channels, works with the show’s cast and crew to make sure mannerisms, costumes and behavior are accurately portrayed as they would have been in post-Edwardian England. He hosted a show that aired on KPTS called “The Manners of Downton Abbey.”

He will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Venue 332 in the Wichita Scottish Rite Center, 332 E. First St.
