Art Chatter
The Wichita Art Museum will have a happy-hour Art Chatter event on Friday night with artists, musicians and designers who will each show 20 slides and talk for 20 seconds about each slide. There will be a cash-bar reception at 6 p.m., the program at 6:45 p.m. and mingling at 8. The $10 admission (free for members) includes a drink ticket. Presenters will be Spirit of the Stairs guitarist Torin Andersen, Greteman Group art director Marc Bosworth, Wichita Symphony Orchestra violinist Dominique Corbeil, city of Wichita landscape architect Larry Hoetmer, Wichita Collegiate School’s theater director Emily Ottaway Goodpasture, Apples & Arrows brand strategist Todd Ramsey and artist and Fisch Haus co-founder Eric Schmidt. ‘Footloose’ teen show
The Music Theatre for Young People will present the stage adaptation of “Footloose” put on by teens this weekend at the Mary Jane Teall Theater at Century II, 225 W. Douglas. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 in advance by calling 316-303-8100 or at www.wichitatix.com and $15 at the door; students get in for $10. Dino O’Dell at Arty Party
Musician-teacher Dino O’Dell of Kansas City will be part of this year’s Arty Party by Arts Partners from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Joyce Focht Instructional Support Center, 412 S. Main. Tickets are $15, with the proceeds going to Arts Partners’ work with area students. O’Dell will perform from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Outer space and exploration are the subject; children ages 4 to 10 also will have the opportunity to participate in STEM learning activities.
