Oktoberfest at the Brickyard
The Brickyard, the open-air bar at 129 N. Rock Island is turning its courtyard into a German-style beer garden and celebrating Oktoberfest on Saturday. The party will last from 1 to 5 p.m., and the bar will be serving bierocks, sauerkraut soup and brats. Several Oktoberfest also will be flowing, including Free State Octoberfest, Paulaner Original Munchner Lager, Shlafly Pumpkin Ale, and more. Live music will start at 2 p.m. Admission to the party is $10 and includes a free Oktoberfest beer stein and one pint of beer.
Hot Rize at Prairie Pines
Hot Rize, a Colorado-based bluegrass group that features tenor Tim O’Brien on lead vocals and Pat Wernick on banjo, will perform on Wednesday at Prairie Pines, 4055 N. Tyler. Its opening act will be Red Knuckles & The Trailblazers. The concert is put on by ArtsAMaize, a project of Chamber Music at The Barn. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25 and $35. Dress as a carrot, get in free
The Wonder Revolution, a collective of Wichita musicians, artists, storytellers, writers, dancers and more, will celebrate the release of its sixth album, “The Magic World” with an event on Friday at the Fisch Haus, 524 S. Commerce. The event will feature a panel discussion and a performance by Czech Republic duo DVA. The new CD, described as a “wonder album,” takes listeners on a journey through an elephant fairy valley, gnomeland, an invisible forest and more. Those who come dressed as a carrot or an elephant will get in for free. Admission is $8 and includes a free CD.
