Clean comics raise money for League 42
Clean, family-friendly comedy is the focus of a show on Friday that will benefit League 42, a local inner-city youth baseball league. The show features performances from Christian comedian Tim McClendon, founder of Midwest Clean Comedy, and Street Russell, a national touring comedian. The show, suitable for people of all ages, will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Word of Life South, 2020 E. Blake. General admission tickets are $6 or $5 if 10 or more are purchased. Fall Renaissance Festival
The 16th annual Fall Great Plains Renaissance Festival is Saturday and Sunday at Sedgwick County Park, 6300 W. 13th St. The event, which each year fills the park with jousters, birds of prey, cosplay contests, comedians, vendors and giant turkey legs, happens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. This year’s festival will feature Byron T Bear, described as a medieval performing bear. Adult tickets are $12 at the gate or $8.50 in advance. Festival of Praise
The Festival of Praise, a multi-performer gospel concert headlined by Fred Hammond, will arrive at Hartman Arena on Thursday. In addition to Hammond, a Grammy winner known for performing with the gospel group Commissioned, the show will include performances by Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell and Hezekiah Walker. The concert will stop in 50 cities, and Wichita is the second. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $27, $37 and $45 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000 and at the Hartman Arena box office.
