Fall Blues Crawl in Old Town
The Wichita Blues Society’s annual Fall Blues Crawl happens at venues around Old Town on Sunday. Participating venues will have a blues act on stage on Sunday, most from 5 to 8 p.m. They include the Brickyard, Club Indigo, Heroes, Joe’s Oldtown Bar & Grill, Loft 150 and Mort’s. The after-party at the Brickyard starts at 8 p.m. and will feature the Noah Wotherspoon Band, which hails from Ohio. Admission is a $10 wristband, which can be picked up at any venue and grants admission to all venues. For a complete schedule, visit http://wichitablues.org.
Concert series welcomes KMUW
The Old Town Association is putting on a series of concerts in the Farm and Art Market Plaza to welcome radio station KMUW, which is moving its offices from Wichita State University to 121 N. Mead in Old Town. The first one is on Saturday and will feature jazz and experimental music from William Flynn Trio, WSU student jazz combos and A Terra Plana. Two more shows are planned – one featuring Roxy Roca, Crushed Out, Feral Foster and The Comfort Revue on Oct. 3, and another featuring Nick Schnebelan Band and the Macy Brothers on Oct. 10. All shows will start at 7 p.m., and admission is free. After-parties will follow each concert at Barleycorn’s, 608 E. Douglas.
Funk and rap at the Cotillion
The Funk Volume 2015 Tour, which features rappers Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton and DJ Hoppa, will make a stop at the Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg, on Thursday. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 8. Tickets are $22.50 in advance and $25 the day of the show. They’re available at www.thecotillion.com or by calling 316-722-4201.
