The biggest indoor car show that happens in Kansas every year returns to Century II this weekend. And that’s just one of several fun events that will be happening in Wichita.

Cars for Charities
The annual Cars for Charities Rod & Custom Car Show returns to Century II, 225 W. Douglas, this weekend. The show, which will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, bills itself as the biggest indoor show in Kansas. It will take over all three exhibit halls in Century II, which will be filled with local cars, show cars from around the country, vendors and more. Proceeds will be split between two local charities: Starkey Inc. and AbilityPoint. Tickets are available at selectaseat.com and are $18 for adults, $17 for seniors and members of the military; and $10 for ages 12-17. Children ages 11 and under will be admitted for free and will be able to enjoy a Kid Zone. Discounted tickets are available at local QuikTrip stores.
Not Nirvana, but smells like it
The tribute band Smells Like Nirvana will be in Wichita on Friday to perform a show at The Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg. The show is open to all ages and will include Nirvana hits from the albums “Nevermind,” ”In Utero” and “Bleach” as well as several rare songs. Fans even can request songs at smellslikenirvanatribute.com. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and the doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $26.86-$90.24 at thecotillion.com
Meatfest 26
The 26th annual Meat Festival at Kirby’s Beer Store happens Friday through Sunday at 3227 E. 17th St. It’s a music festival that will include two stages with new bands every 45 minutes from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday; from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday; and from 4:15 to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Among the names on the bill: Indigo Sol, Wayne Gottstine, The Comfort Revue and Keo & Them. Attendees should bring meat to grill at the community cookout. Proceeds will benefit the Steve Schroeder Foundation.
Sober Fest
Bubbles Champagne Bar, which operates inside The Workroom at 523 E. Douglas, is putting on its second annual Sober Fest this weekend. The event, meant to pay tribute to the anniversary of the start of Prohibition, will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday with free samples of nonalcoholic wines, mushroom coffee, matcha and THC drinks. Then, at 4 p.m., a mocktail competition featuring mixologists from several local bars will start. Admission is free. The bar will also be open until midnight for those not observing Dry January.
Sewing and dancing at WAM
Artist Stephen Towns will be at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 Museum Blvd., on Saturday for a Family ArtVenture, titled “A Sewful Celebration.” The event is centered around the exhibit “Safe Waters: Picturing Black Recreation at MidCentury,” which features Towns paintings and quilts inspired by a Florida lake resort for Black vacationers in the 1950s. It will last from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and visitors will be able to visit with Towns, learn to sew by hand, create wearable art, and enjoy 1950s swing music and dance. Admission is free.
Tay Money at Wave
Viral rapper Tay Money will perform on Saturday on the indoor stage at Wave, 650 E. Second St. Tay Money, who is from Dallas, is best known for hits like “The Assignment” and “Bussin,” which blew up on TikTok. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. and is open to all ages.
