Where to see discounted movies in the Wichita area this summer

Summer’s almost here, and there’s not a better way to cool off than by seeing a movie in air conditioned comfort.

Many area theaters are offering discounts and special film series for the season. Here’s a look (titles and times are subject to change).

AMC NORTHROCK 14

AMC Stubs A-List, Premiere, and Insider members can see first-run movies on Tuesdays with a hefty discount (which is applied at check-out online). Also, all tickets are 20% off of the evening ticket prices every day before 4 p.m.

RIVERFLIX FRIDAYS AT EXPLORATION PLACE

Screenings take place at the museum’s Wichita Foundation Amphitheater outside on Fridays through Oct. 17. Blankets or cushions are encouraged. Wagons, strollers, scooters and lawn chairs are not permitted in the seating area. See website for titles.

There will be food and beverage available for purchase from food trucks. Alcohol is not permitted. Gates open at 6 p.m. with movies starting at approximately sunset. Free admission to the film, with regular admission for the museum.

REGAL SUMMER MOVIE EXPRESS

Each week until Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Regal theaters presents its Summer Movie Express series, with tickets just $1. Check the website for titles.

Also, guests can purchase a specially priced $5 snack pack, which includes a junior-sized drink, snack-sized popcorn and fruit snacks.

SUMMER MOVIES AT DERBY PLAZA THEATERS

Kid-friendly movies will be shown at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, through July 31. Tickets are $2. (Gift cards cannot be used on tickets; cash only for tickets.) Check the website for titles.

Also, a “kiddie combo” deal costs $6.25 and includes a small popcorn, small drink and small candy.

BOULEVARD THEATRES

Towne West, 4600 W. Kellogg and Old Town, 353 N. Mead, https://blvdtheatres.com/

On Mondays, all movies and showtimes are $5 at the Towne West location and $8 at the Old Town location.

STARLITE DRIVE-IN

Wichita’s last drive-in is now open seven days a week. Check the website for titles, tickets and showtimes, usually with double features for one price.
