Tickets to a Wichita State basketball game, a $100 restaurant gift card and the chance to see the band Boston live at Intrust Bank Arena are some of the prizes available for the winners of the third annual “Blue Jean Bingo” charity event.
This Friday, Goodwill Industries of Kansas Inc. invites the public to relax, give back and play bingo.
“I like it because it is a different event than what you see in town,” said Tina Luper, development coordinator for Goodwill Industries of Kansas. “It is very casual and fun.”
The games begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Abode Venue. The proceeds will support Goodwill’s programs, providing opportunities and employment for people with disabilities.

“We were looking for something that was not your traditional sit-down gala where you get dressed up and serve the chicken dinner,” said Molly Fox, vice president of marketing and development for Goodwill Industries of Kansas.
Tickets are $65 per person or $500 to reserve a table for eight. The price includes live music, beer, wine, a signature drink, food from nine restaurants and two complimentary cards for seven games of bingo. Extra cards are $3 or two cards for $5.
“We want to make it affordable and fun,” Fox said.
Seven local celebrities – including Eagle columnist Bonnie Bing, Wichita City Council member Janet Miller and Jason Febres, chef and owner of Taste & See – will take turns as callers. Bingo winners will receive prizes donated by the celebrities worth a minimum of $100.
Prizes include a six-course tasting for two, a “Mad Men”-themed basket, a basket from The Spice Merchant & Co. and concert and basketball tickets.
A silent auction will be open for the majority of the evening with more than 60 opportunities to win. Prizes include a trip to the American Music Awards, signed basketballs from WSU, jewelry and a spa day.
Four new restaurants are donating food for the event this year: Bocco Deli, Noodles & Company, Jose Pepper’s Mexican Restaurant and Cafe Maurice. Also donating food and resources are The Chocolate Fountain Event Rentals, Emerson Biggin’s Sports Bar, Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza, P.F. Chang’s and Truffles Catering.
“We are trying to make it bigger and better every year,” Fox said. “We have more of everything this year.”
