Disney on Ice glides into Wichita every spring, and the troupe of skating animated movie stars return this weekend. Their long string of shows started on Thursday and will continue through Sunday.
And that’s just one of the options for fun this weekend in Wichita. Following is a list of other shows, concerts and events locals might want to check out:
Disney on Ice
Friday through Sunday, Intrust Bank Arena, 500 E. Waterman
It’s that time of year when Disney stars arrive in Wichita, lace up their skates and entertain local children. Disney On Ice returns this weekend with a show called “Into the Magic,” which will feature characters like Moana, Coco, Belle, Elsa, Anna and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse portrayed by world-class skaters. Remaining show times are 7 p.m. today; 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. Vintage Market Days
Friday-Sunday, Wichita Sports Forum, 2668 N. Greenwich Court
Vintage Market Days is returning to Wichita for a three-day, upscale shopping event that will feature vendors and artisans from across the country selling art, antiques, jewelry, clothing, home decor, plants and more. The event, titled “Live, Love, Vintage,” happens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Wichita Sports Forum, and it will also include food and live music. On Friday, tickets are $15, and Saturday and Sunday tickets are $10. All tickets are good for reentry all weekend and are available at events.humanitix.com or at the door. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
Magic man
7 p.m. Sunday, Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway
“Master Illusionist” Rick Thomas will be at Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre on Sunday putting on a show called “Mansion of Dreams,” which will include magic, comedy and dancing. Thomas, who has been featured on television shows such as “The World’s Greatest Magic” and “Masters of Illusion,” will take the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets are $44-$74 at www.selectaseat.com, by phone at 316-755-7328 and in person at the Select-a-Seat box office inside Intrust Bank Arena.
Pull a Plane
Noon Saturday, 1788 S. Airport Road
The annual Pull a Plane event, put on by Doc’s Friends and WSU Tech, will feature teams of 25 people all trying to move the 80,000-pound restored B-29 known as “Doc” using only a rope and their pulling power. The event happens Saturday at the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center. It’s family friendly, and people who want to watch and cheer can get in for $10 for individuals, $25 for a family of up to six people. Ticket holders also will be able to participate in a variety of STEM activities in the hangar and take tours of Doc’s cockpit. STEM activities start at noon followed by an opening ceremony at 1 p.m. Team pulls will start at 1:15 p.m., and the championship pull-off is at 3:30 p.m. Cockpit tours start at 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be split between the WSU Tech Foundation and initiatives to help finance Doc’s home and education displays. It’s First Friday
Friday, many Wichita art galleries
It’s First Friday in Wichita, and several local art galleries will be putting on free opening-night events. Among them will be the Blackprint gallery at 104 St. Francis, which will feature live painting with the artist known as Tayshow in honor of Women’s History Month. Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys

Fans of Western swing will gather at The Cotillion on Friday for a concert by frequent Wichita performers Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys. Lead by frontman and two-time Grammy winner Jason Roberts, the group recreates music made by legendary fiddler Bob Wills, who died in 1975. Friday’s show starts at 8 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32 at thecotillion.com
