Special concert for fans of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ coming to Century II this weekend
If you liked the animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” — or if you just liked its soundtrack — you’ll want to be at Century II on Friday, Nov. 1, for a special concert during which a live orchestra will perform music from the show while scenes play in the background.
That’s just one of the several events happening in Wichita this weekend. People can also get in one last visit to a haunted house, tour art galleries for First Friday, or catch a rap concert at The Cotillion.

‘Avatar’ in concert

Fans of the Emmy-winning animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” have a chance this weekend to see a live orchestral rendition of the series’ soundtrack. “Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert,” which will include a two-hour recap of the series displayed on a full-size screen, will be on stage at Century II’s Concert Hall on Friday. It’s First Friday again
Friday, various Wichita art galleries
First Friday has come around again, and Wichita galleries are inviting art fans to visit opening-night receptions for various shows. Among this month’s openings: shows by painters Serena Salerno and Emmanuel Campos Perez (aka Deber) at Art House 310, 310 S. Haunted houses still open

Halloween is over, but a few local haunted attractions are still open for another couple of days. Those who need a little more horror can still visit 13 Sinister Souls, 527 E. Harry, and Field of Screams, 4055 Tyler in Maize, both Friday and Saturday. Tickets for 13 Sinister Souls are $27 for adults ages 13 and over and $17 for ages 6-12 at 13sinistersouls.com. Golden Girls return to Roxy’s

The always popular Golden Girls are back at Roxy’s Downtown for an eighth season. This time, the show is titled “Pass the Cheesecake” and stars Monte Wheeler, Kyle Vespestad, Tom Frye, Scott Noah and Christine Tasheff. It runs from Friday through Dec. 29, and shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Orpheum comedy

Up-and-coming comedian Mark Normand, known for his 2023 Netflix special “Soup to Nuts,” will be in Wichita on Saturday for a show at the Orpheum Theatre. He’s also known for his Comedy Central shows and appearances on late-night talk shows. Three rappers, one night
8 p.m. Saturday, The Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg
The Cotillion will be the site on Saturday of a show featuring three well-known rappers: Baby Bash, MC Magic and Lil Rob. The show starts at 8 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. Headliner Baby Bash, whose real name is Ronald Ray Bryant, was born in Vallejo California and is known for hits like “Suga Suga” and “Cyclone.” The show is open to all ages, and general admission tickets are $45 at thecotillion.com
