Come on down, Wichita: Two famous game shows will be staging live events in the coming days

Two big game shows are landing in the Wichita area just days apart: Locals can try to win prizes at live versions of “The Price is Right” on Saturday and “Wheel of Fortune” on Tuesday. And maybe they can use their cash winnings to buy tickets to some of the other fun events happening in Wichita over the weekend, including several concerts, an author appearance and even a tattoo expo.

Following is a look at some of this weekend’s best bets for fun:

Game show week in Wichita

Saturday at Park City Arena, Tuesday at the Orpheum Theatre

Come on down, game show fans: You have two chances this week to be a contestant when live versions of both “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune” come to the Wichita area. “The Price is Right Live” will be at Park City Arena on Saturday. Attendees will have the chance to get called on stage, play games like Plinko and Cliffhangers and win prizes. It starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $32 to $62 at parkcityarena.com. Then, on Tuesday, “Wheel of Fortune Live” will arrive at Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre for a stage show that starts at 7 p.m.. The audience will see randomly suggested audience members get a chance to spin a replica of the famous Wheel, solve puzzles and win prizes. David Sedaris at The Orpheum

7:30 p.m. Monday, Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway

Author and humorist David Sedaris, who has appeared in Wichita many times over the years, returns Monday for an event at the Orpheum Theatre. Sedaris, known for books such as “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim,” and his most recent book, a graphic novel for children titled “Pretty Ugly,” will appear at 7:30 p.m. and also be selling books. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Walker’s Jazz Lounge, 252 N. Mosley

Tulsa jazz saxophonist Grady Nichols, who Wichita may have seen at his past Riverfest and Bradley Fair performances, will be at Walker’s Jazz Lounge for a show on Saturday. Nichols, who has been performing for more than two decades, has recorded 10 albums and opened for stars like Luciano Pavarotti, Ray Charles and Al Green. Local radio host Steve Bauer will be the emcee for the show. Tickets to the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m., are $20 at www.walkersjazzlounge.com

Tattoo Expo

Friday-Sunday, Century II Expo Hall, 225 W. Douglas

If you’ve been thinking about getting inked, the Wichita Emerald City Tattoo Expo this weekend at Century II is the place to be. The event will feature live tattoos, piercings and hairstyling plus shopping, trick-or-treating and other kid-friendly activities. It will also feature costume and tattoo contests. It runs from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Century II’s Expo Hall. Click Clack Boo

10 a.m. and noon Friday-Saturday, 201 S. Lulu

Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center wants to help children get in the Halloween spirit with its latest production, titled “Click Clack Boo.” The show stars Duck, Cow, Hen and Pig, who are excited for Halloween and are trying to put on a party despite the fact that Farmer Brown hates Halloween. Showtimes are 10 a.m. and noon Friday and 10 a.m. and noon Saturday at the theater, 201 S. Lulu. Tickets for the show only are $9. Those who attend the noon shows and want a pizza lunch that starts at 11:30 a.m. pay $11. Advanced reservations are required at 316-262-2282

Shelby Eicher and his Tulsa Playboys

4 p.m. Sunday, Bartlett Arboretum, 301 N. Line St., Belle Plaine

Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine is starting to wind down its outdoor Sunday concert series but has a performance from Shelby Eicher and his Tulsa Playboys this weekend. The group, led by National Fiddle Hall of Fame member Eicher, play Western swing music and features twin fiddles, a steel guitar and a horn section. The show is at 4 p.m., and tickets at the gate are $20, free for children accompanied by an adult. People are invited to pack a picnic but should leave their dogs at home.
